BEEAH Group, founded in 2007 in Sharjah as a public-private partnership, actively tackles environmental and waste management issues. Originally, they focused on municipal waste removal and recycling, but it quickly expanded its mission throughout the 2010s to include energy, digital services, education, and sustainable transport. Today, BEEAH Group leads sustainable urban development, growing from its roots in Sharjah to gain global recognition across sectors like environment, energy, technology, healthcare, and real estate. With innovative projects such as their AI headquarters and a waste-to-hydrogen facility, they process 500,000 tonnes of waste and generate enough energy to power about 28,000 homes. Their efforts in waste diversion have also been impressive, exceeding 90% in Sharjah by 2024, up from 76% in 2022. BEEAH Group employs over 13,000 people from 46 nationalities across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, and serves more than 200 clients. Additionally, the company made a strategic move by joining the UAE International Investors Council in 2023, becoming the first member from the sustainability sector.
Since its beginning, BEEAH Group has made remarkable progress in sustainability and innovation. It all started in 2010 with the launch of the School of Environment, focusing on recycling construction and tire waste. By 2017, they started a partnership with Masdar to set up a Waste-to-Energy plant in Sharjah and created their digitization hub, Evoteq. In 2022, they revealed their impressive AI-powered headquarters designed by Zaha Hadid and began large-scale waste-to-energy operations.
With a new name, BEEAH Group also expanded their efforts. Between 2023 and 2025, they entered Egypt during COP27 and announced exciting projects, such as hydrogen-from-waste initiatives, a solar landfill, and a new medical district, all while launching a real estate arm to support their commitment to innovative solutions.
Beeah Group's headquarters spans an impressive 9,000 square meters, designed as a net-zero building that has earned both LEED Platinum and BREEAM Outstanding certifications. This futuristic facility is powered by solar energy and utilizes smart technology for efficient resource management. It features elements such as thermal mass cladding and water recycling systems, along with Tesla battery backup for reliable energy storage. Beeah has established a strong global presence by launching waste operations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and they are conducting hydrogen production trials from waste in Nottingham, UK, in collaboration with Chinook Hydrogen. The group has also formed strategic partnerships, including projects in the Jawaher Boston Medical District and a data center in Sharjah with Khazna. With the upcoming Sharjah Creative Quarter & Khalid Bin Sultan City, Beeah is committed to promoting creativity and collaboration in the region.
Bee’ah Group has made impressive contributions to sustainability and environmental responsibility, earning several awards along the way. In 2018, they shone at the Gulf Sustainability & CSR Awards, winning four awards for Waste Management, Green Building, Environmental Sustainability, and the title of Overall Winner. In 2019, their commitment continued to be recognized at the International Business Excellence Awards, where they were praised for their work in waste management, circular economy initiatives, and innovative projects involving AI and electric vehicles. Most recently, in 2023, Bee’ah became the first sustainability firm from the MENA region to join the UAE International Investors Council. These achievements show their dedication to nurturing a sustainable future and position them as leaders in environmental initiatives.
The BEEAH Group is at the forefront of sustainability and community engagement in Sharjah, aiming towards a zero-waste city. They’re making a significant impact through the BEEAH Academy of Sustainability, which has reached over 252,000 students and 6,500 teachers in around 700 schools since 2010. This initiative boosts awareness about sustainability among the youth. BEEAH also promotes gender inclusion, with Emirati women taking on important roles in engineering, consulting, and education. Additionally, they are innovating through partnerships with companies like Karcher, focusing on AI-based robotics for environmental solutions. Overall, BEEAH Group is transforming Sharjah with its commitment to a sustainable and inclusive future.
